Abbotsford Heat!

heat

I had a great time getting in behind the scenes at Wednesday night's Abbotsford Heat game.  I got the unique opportunity to be a sports photographer for the night.  I have to say, I loved being able to go anywhere.  The 'no access' areas suddenly become my domain as I flashed my 'media' sticker.  It felt good.   Wow, is this a different world from any other type of photography I've done.  The lighting is fairly good and consistent, the action is fast, and the to do list long.  Thanks to Amy Williams for the invite and opportunity to stretch my photography in a new direction.  Next time, bigger lens!  I shot the whole game with my 24-70m which I found a bit frustrating.  I was waiting for the boys to slam into the boards mostly, action in centre ice or from the cat walk was just too far away to look cool.  Amy's shots with her gazillion $ Nikon 300m were such so much more 'sporty'.  If only I had a lens for EVERY occasion.  Ha!  Much thanks for a new adventure Amy.  Your passion is contagious.
